Current & upcoming class topics

April’s classes and courses explore how we can develop a positive relationship with change.
Mon 7th: What Is a True Spiritual Path?
A spiritual path is an inner path, or spiritual realisation, that leads us to the pure happiness of liberation and enlightenment. How do we train in such paths?
Mon 14th: Permanent Freedom From Suffering Is Possible
Buddha said we should not be satisfied with merely temporary freedom from particular sufferings but apply great effort to attaining permanent freedom from all suffering. Only by following a correct spiritual path can we accomplish this freedom.
Mon 21st: Developing Affectionate Love for All Living Beings
Buddha taught how to develop and maintain a warm heart and a feeling of being close to all living beings without exception. This affectionate love makes our mind pure and balanced, and prepares the foundation for generating cherishing love for all living beings.
Mon 28th: Equalizing Self & Others
When we train in equalizing self and others we are learning to believe that the happiness and freedom of ourself and all other living beings are equally important. Learning to cherish others is the best solution to our daily problems, and is the source of all our future happiness and good fortune.
-
May’s classes and courses explore our relationship with ourself and with others, and how to make these relationships harmonious, meaningful and joyful.
Bank Holiday Monday 5th May: no classes
Monday 12th Wishing the Very Best for Everyone
By training in wishing love we will genuinely wish for all living beings to attain the pure and everlasting happiness of enlightenment and make a strong determination to work for this aim.
Monday 19th: Being Truly Compassionate
Universal compassion is a mind that sincerely wishes to liberate all living beings from suffering permanently. We can develop this mind spontaneously by training in special meditations taught by Buddha.
- No classes Monday 26th because of Spring Festival

June’s classes and courses explore the true nature of confidence and its relationship with our innate capacity for compassion and wisdom.
Mon 2nd: Becoming a Friend of the World
We become a Bodhisattva, a true friend of the world, by developing the supreme good heart known as bodhichitta. This is a spontaneous wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all living beings. There is no greater beneficial intention than this precious mind.
Mon 9th: Six Steps to Enlightenment
When we train in the six perfections of giving, moral disciple, patience, effort, concentration and wisdom we are training in the actual path to enlightenment. Through following this path with the vehicle of bodhichitta we shall definitely reach the state of enlightenment.
Mon 16th: Taking on Suffering
Through special meditations with a mind of sincere compassion we imagine ourself taking on others’ sufferings. This practice leads to an especially deep realization of compassion and bodhichitta.
Mon 23rd: Giving Pure Happiness
This training in giving is a special meditation on wishing love that sincerely wishes all living beings to attain real happiness – the pure and everlasting happiness of liberation and enlightenment.
Mon 30th: New theme - see July
The Teacher for the Worcester class
The Worcester ‘Meditation & Daily Life’ class is led by our resident teacher, Gen Kelsang Khechog.
Known for his thoughtful nature, Gen Khechog presents Buddha’s teachings with relatable clarity, showing how to connect these beautiful meditations with the realities of modern daily life.
The venue
The Worcester class is held at The Hive public library, Sawmill Close, The Butts, Worcester WR1 3PD.
We are normally in room 5. There are lots of helpful staff - please ask for directions if you’re there for the first time.
The nearest car park is the Cattlemarket (the view in the picture here is from this car park), though it is a bit cheaper to park in Croft Road car park, just over the road. Crowngate car park is recommended if there has been sustained heavy rain, as flooding can effect the other two.

Our classes have three parts:
Guided meditation
Every class (except for ‘Friday Night Lectures’) includes a chance to practise meditation. No prior experience is necessary and all the meditations are guided.
Teaching
From Buddha’s teachings, these practical talks help us to solve our daily problems and find peace, happiness and, if we wish, a deeper purpose in our busy lives.
Discussion
A chance to discuss the topic of the talk and meditation with others during the break over refreshments. No one is ever ‘put on the spot’ and asked to talk in a class. The teacher will normally make time for questions, and will be happy to clarify any points during the class too.

Yes. Courses cover a wide variety of topics from simple stress reduction to profound wisdom teachings, but are always taught in an accessible way such that everyone leaves with some practical insight they can use in daily life.
One exception to this is our monthly ‘Tantra’ class. Please see the Tantra class page for details.

No. People from all backgrounds attend JLC to find peace according to their own individual needs and wishes. Everybody is welcome.
-
No special clothing is needed. Our courses do not include any physical exercise and most people choose to sit on chairs, though cushions are also set out for those who prefer to sit on the floor.
-
Other than removing shoes before going in to the meditation room (they can be worn as normal elsewhere) and turning phones off during session, there are no special rules to follow. People are always very pleasantly surprised with just how informal, welcoming and down to earth Jangchub Ling is; you’ll feel right at home in no time.

Walk-ins are very welcome. You can pay on arrival (cash/card) or book online in advance. Block booking discounts are available.

Centre members can access several of our classes online and we hope to offer online courses in the future too. Please see our ‘membership’ page for a list of online classes.
